Southwest Airlines is cutting back on cabin cleaning procedures that were instituted because of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to a memo sent to flight attendants, the move is being made to speed up flight turnaround times.
However a union representing Southwest flight attendants urged the airline to still make travel-wary passengers feel as comfortable as possible.
The company rolled out the enhanced program back in March.
Scaling it back will mean changes including no longer sanitizing seat belts between flights.
The company says cleanings will now focus on a few items like tray tables and bathrooms.
Deep overnight cleanings will continue.
Southwest said the airline will continue to limit plane capacity through the end of October.
