We want to warn you some viewers may find this video disturbing.
A New York police officer is suspended without pay after video shows him allegedly placing a man in a chokehold.
Bodycam video released by the NYPD shows the moments leading up to the incident on Sunday morning on Rockaway Beach Queens boardwalk.
According to a law enforcement source, the three men in the video were making exchanges with police, sometimes in conversation and other times name calling and taunting.
At one point the man who was taken into custody reaches down and pulls up a plastic bag.
He approaches officers and says “You scared?”
His friend says to the man “What are you doing?”
The officers then proceed to move in for arrest and a scuffle ensues.
From the view of the body camera you can see an officer eventually remove his arm from the man’s neck.
A bystander is heard shouting “Stop choking him!”
Another officer taps his fellow officer on the back and he releases his grip.
The Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating the use of force and so is the Queens District Attorney.
The man required medical treatment for a laceration and no charges against him have been announced.
