Police talk down man threatening to jump off bridge (ASL – 11.19.19)

Our Sign1News cameras caught a dramatic rescue today in Atlanta.

The company’s chief technology officer was headed to the studio when he spotted a man threatening to jump off an exit sign hanging over a bridge.

Police immediately shut down rush hour traffic below the bridge to ensure the safety of the man.

An inflatable catch mattress was also set up on the road below.

Witnesses say the man could be heard yelling “Don’t try to make me come down!”

SWAT team negotiators were called to de-escalate the situation.

After an hour negotiating, the man came off the sign and was escorted down a fire truck ladder.

He was transported to a local hospital for observation.

Police did not say if he would face any charges.
