Hundreds of protesters gathered at the scene were 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed by police in a Wendy’s restaurant parking lot Friday night.
Authorities say officers were responding to a call about a man sleeping in a vehicle at the Wendy’s drive-through.
When officers arrived, they gave Brooks a field sobriety test which he failed.
That’s when authorities say Brooks resisted arrest and after a brief struggle got a hold of one of the officer’s taser.
CNN obtained two videos that show Brooks’ last moments: one from an eyewitness and one from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.
We want to warn you: the content of these videos might be disturbing to some viewers.
In the video, Brooks is seen struggling with two police officers.
He breaks free and starts running away with what appears to be a stun gun in his right hand.
One officer fired his Taser.
Brooks then turns and brandishes the Taser he took.
That’s when the other officer fires his gun.
Three shots can be heard on the video.
Brooks was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.
He died one day before his daughter’s eighth birthday.
The officer who shot and killed Brooks has been identified as Garrett Rolfe.
He was fired immediately.
The second officer involved Devin Brosnan was placed on administrative leave.
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms says she does not believe this case was a justified use of deadly force.
Also less than 24 hours after the deadly shooting, Atlanta’s police chief Erika Shields announced she was stepping down.
She will remain with the city in another role.
