Sunday two Atlanta Police Department officers were fired after body cam video showed them using “excessive force” against two college students during Saturday night’s protests.
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms made the announcement.
Video shows the officers breaking the windows of the vehicle the two people were in, yanking a woman out of the car and tasing a man.
The incident took place when the two were riding home from protests.
One of the officers wrote in a police report that he used his taser because he was unsure whether the two people in the car were armed.
Bottoms said there were a total of five officers involved in the incident.
Sunday Bottoms said aside from the two officers fired, the other three officers are now on desk-duty pending what, if any, disciplinary appropriate action should be taken against them.
