There has been a break in the investigation into missing college student from Alabama Aniah Blanchard.
On Thursday, police in Auburn, Alabama issued a warrant for Ibraheem Yazeed.
He was named as a suspect in the kidnapping of Blanchard.
Investigators said a witness reported seeing Yazeed forcing Blanchard into her own car against her will on October 23.
Her car was later found damaged and abandoned in Montgomery, Alabama, nearly an hour away.
Within hours of the warrant, authorities nearly 200 miles away in Escambia County, Florida received a tip about Yazeed’s whereabouts.
The US Marshals Service flooded the area with officers searching for Yazeed.
When he was spotted, officials say he took off running, jumped over a guard rail into a marshy area, ran into a wooded area and hid in some bushes.
Yazeed appeared in a Florida courtroom on Friday awaiting extradition back to Alabama.
Authorities say Yazeed was also accused of attempted murder in another case earlier this year in Montgomery.
Allegedly Yazeed and three other people beat a man until the victim was near death.
Yazeed was out on bond for that charge before being arrested in this case.
Investigators are continuing the search for Blanchard.
A reward fund of more than $100,000 has been set up to encourage anyone with information to come forward.
