CDC confirms 3rd case of coronavirus in the U.S.

A new case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Southern California, making it the third person to test positive in the US.

On Saturday the CDC notified Orange County health officials that a potential case of coronavirus tested positive.

The person who tested positive traveled from Wuhan, China, which is the epicenter of the outbreak.

Once the virus was confirmed, the person was placed in isolation and is listed in good condition at a local hospital.

The CDC says it is taking aggressive measures to stop the spread of the virus in the US.

While the agency considers the virus a serious public health threat, officials say the immediate risk to Americans is low.

The same cannot be said for people living in China.

There are now nearly 2,000 confirmed cases and more than 50 deaths in China.

Health officials fear the death toll will continue to rise as authorities and healthcare workers struggle to contain the outbreak.

Doctors and staff canceled their trips and other holiday plans to work and prepare for any new cases of the coronavirus.

Some hospitals have designated a special isolated area for patients.

Chinese authorities have also imposed indefinite restrictions on public transportation and travel.

And the Chinese government announced on Sunday that it is banning all sales of wild animals throughout the country.

The announcement came after it was discovered the Wuhan strain of the coronavirus was linked to a market in the city that was selling seafood and live animals, including wild species.
