After forming Sunday off the Baja California coast of Mexico, Genevieve has rapidly intensified from a tropical storm to a Category 4 hurricane.
Genevieve with winds 130 miles per hour is now tied with Hurricane Douglas as the strongest storm of the 2020 season in the East Pacific.
While Hurricane Genevieve isn’t expected to make landfall along the Baja California Peninsula, it will pass about 100 miles offshore Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Tropical storm watches and warnings are in place for the southern Baja California Peninsula.
Tropical storm-force winds, several inches of rain are expected in the area and large waves will impact much of the west coast of Mexico over the next several days.
Over the weekend a pair of Ohio newlyweds turned their canceled wedding reception into an act of kindness by holding their reception at a local shelter.
