Promising signs in the fight against pandemic

The CDC is now forecasting America could see another 21,000 Covid 19 deaths in just the next three weeks.

Overnight California hit a grim milestone, becoming the first state to surpass 600,000 cases.

Although new infections and hospitalizations are trending downward in several states, the nation’s top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci warns we are starting to see the inkling of upticks in the percent of the tests that are positive.

Fauci says from sad experience that is a predictor that more virus urges are coming.

But there are some promising signs in the fight against the pandemic.

The White House continues to promote the promise of a vaccine on the horizon.

President Trump says there are currently three vaccine candidates in phase 3 clinical trials that are on pace to having more than 100 million doses before the end of the year.

However investigators working on the Moderna vaccine say they still have a lot of work to do.

One potentially hopeful development published in the Journal of the American Medical Association says early trials of a Chinese vaccine are safe and do induce an immune response but more study is needed.

And health experts say with the Labor Day holiday approaching officials don’t want anyone letting their guard down.
