Firefighters battle wildfires in 3 states
Transcript
Firefighters across three Western states are battling wildfires that have already destroyed thousands of acres.
Some people have lost their homes and hundreds are being told to evacuate.
The fires are raging in California, Oregon and Colorado.
Containment numbers in all three states are still low and evacuation orders remain in place for those closest to the flames.
So far more than 90,000 acres have been destroyed in these three Western states.
In Los Angeles County, the Lake Fire and the Ranch 2 fire are raging.
High temperatures are causing elevated fire weather conditions.
In Oregon authorities there believe the Mosier Creek fire was human caused.
And in Colorado firefighters are battling the Pine Gulch, Grizzly Creek and Cameron Peak fires.
The Grizzly Creek has crossed the Colorado River and Interstate 70 which is still close.
A number of studies have tied increasing CO2 emissions and climbing temperatures to increased acreage of burning across the western US, particularly in California.
