President Trump abruptly ended his Saturday press conference after a reporter challenged him about a lie he’s been telling for two years.
Trump was speaking at his golf club in New Jersey.
He claimed again that he is the one who passed the Veterans Choice program and made it a law.
The law allows eligible veterans to be covered by the government for healthcare providers by doctors outside the VA system.
Former President Barack Obama signed the Choice program into law in 2014.
Trump signed the “VA Mission Act” in 2018 which modified and expanded the eligibility criteria for the Choice program.
But he has repeatedly claimed he created Veterans Choice after others have failed for 50 years.
CBS reporter Paula Reid spoke up and asked “Why you keep saying you passed Veterans Choice?”
Trump ignored Reid and tried to call on another reporter.
But Reid continued to challenge Trump again saying “It is a false statement sir.”
Trump paused, said “Okay thank you very much everyone” and walked off.
No reporter had ever challenged Trump on the Veterans Choice claim until Reid did it.
