For months President Trump and the nation’s top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci stood shoulder to shoulder during White House press conferences, keeping the nation informed about the coronavirus pandemic.
As of today the two men are no longer speaking to each other.
In fact when the coronavirus task force met at the Department of Education earlier this week, Fauci was told to join over the phone instead of attending in person.
And Trump has openly criticized Fauci on television.
White House sources believe the friction started when Fauci publicly corrected Trump after he made several misstatements about the virus.
Sources say there have not been huge shouting matches between the two but Trump’s irritation at being publicly corrected was evident in conversations with friends and aides.
Trump complained Fauci did not seem to be on his side.
