The Fourth of July weekend brought a wave of gun violence in cities across the US and children were among the victims.
Saturday in Atlanta 8-year-old Secoriea Turner was shot near the Wendy’s where Rayshard Brooks was killed.
According to police, Secoriea was shot while riding in a vehicle with her mother and an adult friend.
The driver was attempting to enter the parking lot where a group of individuals illegally placed barricades.
According to police someone in the group opened fire on the vehicle, killing Secoriea.
Meanwhile in Chicago a 14-year-old boy and three others are dead after a shooting Saturday night.
Two other minors and two adults were injured.
Police say four men walked up to them and started shooting.
No arrests have been made.
Chicago police say a 7-year-old girl was also shot to death while playing in a separate incident the same night.
In Alabama 22-year-old Montez Moses Miracle Coleman has been arrested in the shooting death of an 8-year-old boy.
Three others were also injured.
Hoover police say Coleman got into an argument with several men at a mall and exchanged fire with them.
They say the adult victims and the boy were innocent bystanders.
Police say they’re still looking for the other people involved in the shooting.
