House passes $3 trillion aid bill

On Friday the US House of Representatives passed a $3 trillion Heroes Act, the largest relief package in history.

House Democratic leaders say the Heroes Act provides funding for state and local governments for the Covid-19 crisis.

The massive bill passed largely along party lines, 208-199, with 14 Democrats defecting to vote with Republicans.

There is also funding for coronavirus testing and a new round of direct payments to Americans in urgent financial need.

However Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell the bill will be dead on arrival in the Senate, calling it a “liberal wish list.”

President Trump said he will not sign the bill.
