Two men have been booked in a Georgia jail in connection with the fatal shooting of all Ahmaud Arbery.
Arbery was supposed to be celebrating his 26th birthday today (Friday).
He was shot and killed on February 23 while out jogging in a neighborhood near Brunswick, Georgia.
Authorities say 64-year-old Gregory McMichael, a former cop, and his 34-year-old son Travis, told police Arbery looked like a person they thought was responsible for recent break-ins.
The two men chased Arbery down and a struggle ensued.
McMichael told police Travis shot Arbery with a shotgun after Arbery attacked him.
An autopsy report revealed Arbery was shot three times.
Arbery was unarmed.
The shooting has drawn protests and outrage nationwide.
The McMichael’s were arrested two days after a 36 second video surfaced online that appears to show the deadly confrontation.
It was taken by person in a vehicle that had stopped on the road.
Both men are charged with felony murder and aggravated assault.
The police report says a third man was involved in the chase but no word yet if he will be charged.
The district attorney says he would present the evidence to a grand jury once the coronavirus pandemic restrictions are lifted.
