One of the biggest questions now facing our nation is when can Americans return to work?
As the country starts to see positive signs that stay at home orders and social distancing are working to help fight the spread of coronavirus, protests in several cities across the country are making it clear some Americans are getting antsy to get back to work.
However the White House just released an updated reopening map of the country and there have been big changes.
There are only four states and regions that health officials say can safely start relaxing social distancing and reopening as early as May 4.
They are indicated by the dark green color.
The majority of the other states, the ones indicated by the color gold, shouldn’t even start safely reopen until June 8 or later.
Top health experts say the key to reopening is testing and we’re not there yet.
The commissioner for the US FDA says antibody tests may play a role in deciding when the US can reopen.
Antibody tests can help identify who is been infected, recovered and develop antibodies that may protected from future infection.
However the World Health Organization warns that more research needs to be done on antibody testing to determine if it is a reliable indicator of a person having immunity or that someone is no longer at risk of becoming reinfected.
According to data from Johns Hopkins, as of 4:30 Friday morning, more than 50,000 people have died in the United States from coronavirus with 870,000 reported cases.
