Today (Tuesday) Wisconsin is holding its primary election in the middle of the pandemic.
The state’s governor, Republican leaders and the state Supreme Court have been in a legal battle after Republicans insisted on holding the election on schedule despite the pandemic.
Wisconsin’s governor issued to delay elections until June but the state Supreme Court blocked it.
The US Supreme Court also reversed a lower court’s ruling that gave voters six extra days to return their ballots by mail.
In short Wisconsin voters without absentee ballot have to go to the polls today regardless of social distancing orders.
Voters with absentee ballots need to send them today or their votes won’t count.
Every other state with an election scheduled for April postponed their contest or shifted it by mail-voting only.
The Supreme Court’s decision draws controversy when it comes to other voting disputes and may make it harder for other states and other elections to give voters options as the pandemic continues.
