Aides to President Trump say he’s itching to scale back the social distancing guidelines in response to the coronavirus.
On Sunday Trump tweeted: “We cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself. At the end of the 15 day, we will make a decision as to which way we want to go!”
Sources close to the White House effort say Trump and some of his top officials are growing more anxious with social distancing.
One senior official said the president is losing patience with the period of national self-isolation as it freezes the US economy.
Some analysts believe a self-inflicted shutdown could cause another great depression.
But some public health experts argue how many lives is the economy worth?
While aides say Trump is itching to roll back guidelines after 15 days, realistically there are few health experts who think that’s enough time to know whether the measures he announced last week are enough.
Meanwhile the Surgeon General warns the COVID-19 outbreak is going to get much worse before it gets better.
