As the ongoing coronavirus crisis is causing closing and cancellations, you may have to make adjustments to your social calendar.
To prevent the spread of the virus public health officials agree that social distancing has become essential.
That means we should limit our contact with people and avoid groups.
But social distancing doesn’t mean your weekend is doomed.
You just have to get a little creative.
Officials at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg school of public health say follow these basic guidelines for social distancing approved activities.
First avoid going to places where 25 or more people may gather.
Second go to places where you can maintain at least 6 feet of distance from other people.
Third keep in mind your personal risk.
If you’re 60 years old and up or have a compromised immune system you should stay home as much as possible.
Now here are some ideas on how you can still make the most of your weekend.
For those of you who love the arts or learning new things, try reading more or taking a virtual museum tour.
This is the perfect time to catch up on that reading list and even try creating virtual book clubs with some friends.
Museums such as the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, the Guggenheim Museum and Google Arts & Culture all hosting online tours.
For the nature lovers, find an area where you don’t encounter crowds and can breathe some fresh air.
You can try birdwatching or going on a run as long as you keep your distance from others.
For people who are all about self-care, this is a perfect time to video chat with friends and family you’ve been wanting to catch up with.
It’s also great time to meditate or just take a nap.
If you’re more of a hands-on person, try making art or playing boardgames.
You can even spend time organizing your house or better yet completing those taxes you been putting off.
