The coronavirus isn’t just affecting people’s health it’s affecting their wallets too.
On Monday (Yesterday) the Dow dropped more than a thousand points.
Stock markets worldwide also took a plunge.
Meanwhile, there are over 50 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the US and health officials say that number will probably rise.
The White House is requesting 1 point 25 billion dollars in emergency funding from lawmakers to address the disease.
In addition to the 1 point 5 billion, the White House has also asked for an additional 535 million dollars, which was set aside for the prevention and treatment of Ebola.
In Italy, confirmed cases went from three to more than 200 within the last week.
Seven deaths have also been reported and some places are under lockdown.
Iran has reported at least 60 cases and 14 deaths.
South Korea has more than 970 confirmed cases and 11 deaths.
As of today (Tuesday) the virus has infected over 80,000 people globally.
The death toll has risen to more than 2,700 worldwide.
Experts have yet to label the coronavirus outbreak as a pandemic, but they could be close.
