While you are enjoying a Thanksgiving meal today, veterinarians are reminding pet owners: keep your holiday feast “on” the table, not “under” the table where pets can get them.
Vets say if you have a house full of guests, tell them “do not feed pets turkey, turkey skin or gravy.”
Fatty foods like those are hard for pets to digest.
Stuffings with ingredients like raisins, onions, chives and garlic can be toxic as well.
And when it comes to bones, wrap them up and throw them away so dogs can’t get to them.
Vets recommend getting Thanksgiving treats specifically meant for pets.
But if your pet does eat something it shouldn’t, immediately call the vet or clinic.
