If you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner this week, federal health officials are warning people to check their fridge and pantry due to a series of recalls.
Here are the foods to keep away from your holiday table:
Don’t eat romaine lettuce from Salinas, California.
The CDC says forty people in sixteen states got sick due to an E. coli outbreak.
If you cannot determine where your romaine lettuce was grown, don’t eat it.
Federal officials received an anonymous tip that Morris Meat Packing in Illinois was producing products without inspection.
That led to the recall of a half million pounds of pork products including pork loin, pork back ribs and pork chops.
The products subject to recall have the establishment number “EST 1827.”
Check your Cheese Nips.
The FDA announced a voluntary recall for 11 ounce boxes because of contamination of small plastic pieces.
Only 11 ounce boxes with “Best Buy” date of May 18, 19 or 20, 2020 could be contaminated.
About 9,500 cases of cottage cheese are being recalled after several customers found a piece of red plastic in containers of Breakstone 2 percent milkfat large curd, and large and small curds of 4 percent milkfat.
They all have a “used by” date of December 10, 2019.
And finally an outbreak of hepatitis A in Indiana, Nebraska and Wisconsin has been potentially linked to blackberries from the Fresh Thyme chain of grocery stores.
The blackberries were recalled after people started getting sick after eating them.
