During a Fox News town hall this weekend President Trump shifted his estimate of American coronavirus deaths.
He said the US could lose 80-thousand to 90-thousand people to the disease.
Two weeks ago, the estimate was 50-thousand to 60-thousand people.
However, the top medical experts like Dr. Deborah Birx say the final death toll will be much higher between 100-thousand and 240-thousand.
So far the virus taken at least 67-thousand lives in the US.
Still more states are set to loosen restrictions on businesses during the coming week.
Over the weekend governors who haven’t moved toward reopening, including California and Michigan, faced protests.
But health officials say reopening too soon could cause a resurgence of cases, leading to possibly having to shut down again.
Contributing to the restlessness is economic anxiety.
More than 30 million Americans have filed for unemployment benefits in the last six weeks.
On Sunday the Trump administration said that 175 billion dollars in small business loans have been given out in the second round of the Paycheck Protection Program.
Negotiations are underway for the fourth stimulus package.
Democrats want Congress to authorize more federal funding for struggling state and local governments.
But a White House economic adviser says the US may not need another round of stimulus money.
