CBP seizes fake coronavirus test kits

Unfortunately international crises tend to bring out the worst in people too.

US Customs and Border Protection sees what appears to be fake covid-19 test kits on Thursday.

Six bags of vials were found in a shipment coming from the United Kingdom to LAX.

Their labels contained the words “coronavirus” and “virus1 test kit.”

CBP isn’t sure if this is the only such shipment of fake tests.

The shipment was turned over to the Food and Drug Administration for testing.

CBP warns the public to be wary of bogus home testing kits being sold online or in stores.

Legitimate authorized testing for covid-19 is only conducted in verified state and local public health labs across the United States.
