Deaf experts offer life-saving tips to prepare for an emergency
Transcript
The peak of the hurricane season doesn’t hit until September 10.
Forecasters say that means 85% of major hurricanes are still on the way after August 20.
That also means it is important for you to be prepared and stay safe.
Deaf Empowerment Program Coordinator Monique Roussell with the Center for Independent living in Jacksonville, Florida reached out to Sign1News to share an important webinar designed to inform deaf and hard of hearing citizens.
Deaf experts from federal and local emergency management agencies, the National Weather Service and other health agencies provided vital information on hurricane preparedness, preparing an emergency survival kit, where to find disability friendly hotels and shelters and how to set up a family evacuation plan.
It’s a three hour webinar but worth every minute.
The information could save lives.
We will post the webinar in its entirety on our website, Facebook and YouTube.
