The US is in the grip of a surge in the coronavirus pandemic and a newly revealed document is recommending 18 states rollback their reopening.
An unpublished report prepared for the White House coronavirus task force lists these 18 states in the red zone.
That means they have had more than 100 new cases per 100,000 people in the last week.
The report is dated July 14 and says bars and gyms in those areas should close, gatherings should be limited to 10 people or fewer and residents should wear a mask at all times when outside their homes.
As you can see the majority of the states are in the South.
Florida is ending the week with the highest number of new coronavirus cases per capita in the country.
The CDC predicts the US could see more than 157,000 deaths due to coronavirus by the end of the first week of August.
And the CDC predicts the states in the coming weeks to record higher numbers of deaths include Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma and Texas.
As of Friday night, data from Johns Hopkins University shows more than 3.6 million cases across the country and over 139,000 deaths from Covid 19 in the US.
