A Michigan jewelry store forced to close by the pandemic is going out with a bang.
The owners of J&M jewelers say they buried roughly $1 million in jewelry in a statewide manhunt.
Real engagement rings, precious coins, gold and silver are all up for grabs.
The owners say the treasures are buried everywhere from Detroit to the Upper Peninsula.
They say each treasure is valued at around $4,000 and is fitted with a GPS tracker.
Treasure hunters will know they have found a treasure point when they see a painted X.
If you are a treasure hunter looking for an adventure here’s the website to register.
It costs $49 to join.
The hunt begins on August 1.
The owner of the jewelry store Johnny Perri says the treasure hunt is a fitting farewell to the family store.
He says he discovered he was never truly happy and that his late father, who taught him everything about the jewelry business, would have approved of the stunt.
Perri says giving people an adventure means giving them something to believe in again.
