The number of new reported coronavirus cases continues to shatter records across the country.
In fact on Thursday there were 63,000 new coronavirus cases, a new single day record.
Death rates have surged in at least 10 states.
Texas’s governor extended the state’s disaster declaration.
The morgue in Nueces County has now hit capacity and an infant is one of the latest victims of the virus.
Officials with San Antonio Methodist Hospital say a 30-year-old man was killed by the virus after attending a Covid party.
Before he died the man told nurses he made a mistake by thinking the disease was a hoax and because he was young he would not be affected by the disease.
On Friday Georgia, Illinois and Utah reported a record high cases.
California alone surpassed 300,000 cases.
West Virginia now has the highest rate of transmission in the country.
And for the second time in Florida more than 11,000 new cases were reported in a single day.
Florida is averaging more than 9,000 cases a day, up more than 1,200% since the state started reopening in May.
Now the World Health Organization is warning that “in our current situation, it is very unlikely that we can eradicate or eliminate the virus.”
