According to Johns Hopkins University, Wednesday the US reported its highest number of new Covid-19 cases in a single day, with more than 50-thousand cases yesterday.
That brings the total number during the pandemic to almost two-point-seven million in the US.
This comes as President Trump is saying virus will “disappear” soon.
But health experts say that’s just not true.
37 states are seeing a rise in new cases.
And 12 states are seeing increased hospitalizations.
And one top doctor warns we are approaching record numbers in places like Texas, Florida and Arizona.
According to a forecast published by the CDC, Florida and Arizona are expected to see nearly 2-thousand new hospitalizations per day by mid-July.
And health experts say unless leadership, government and individuals step up to tackle the virus it will not be disappearing.
In response the governor of California announced he’s tightening restrictions.
The restrictions include closing indoor businesses, restaurants, bars, museums, movie theaters and zoos within 19 counties making up 72-percent of California’s population.
California’s governor is also residents to think twice about having family gatherings this holiday weekend.
Doctors are warning about a “perfect storm” this holiday weekend with people gathering to celebrate the Fourth of July.
The White House is planning a celebration on the National Mall that will possibly attract thousands of people.
Trump starts his holiday weekend Friday with a fireworks show at Mount Rushmore where masks and social distancing won’t be enforced.
