Despite concerns about the rising coronavirus cases, Independence Day could end up being the biggest road trip event of the year.
Travel data company Arrivalist predicts more than 36 million Americans will hit the road for the July 4 holiday weekend.
That’s about 11% less than last year’s predictions but considerably high considering current social distancing restrictions.
During the holiday weekend in 2019 the American Automobile Association (AAA) predicted 41 million travelers.
The coronavirus pandemic is also expected to slow down travel for the entire summer.
AAA says Americans will take 700 million trips in July, August and September.
That’s 120 million fewer than last year.
The decline is mostly because of reduced air, bus, rail and cruise travel.
Do you plan on traveling this summer or you and your family going to enjoy a stay-cation?
I plan on staying at home most of the time.
Occasionally I will head to the mountains after I’ve checked and determined that it’s safe.
