FDA ends emergency use of drug taken by Trump

Two drugs that were being used at one point to treat Covid-19 don’t have the Food and Drug Administration’s approval anymore.
There’s been a lot of talk around hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine.
But Monday the FDA decided to pull its emergency use authorization.
The FDA’s chief scientist says is just not likely their effective and that the latest studies show potential benefits don’t outweigh the potential risks.
So why did it get approval in the first place?
Scientists with the FDA said the decision was based on scientific evidence they had at the time.
And there was also a political influence with the president saying he was taking hydroxychloroquine at one pointwhich increased demand for the drug.
But the increased demand caused a shortage of drugs which had dire consequences for people who needed it to treat conditions such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
The FDA wanted to make sure there was enough for those people.
