For the 11th night in a row, protesters across the country are demonstrating in solidarity over racial injustice.
Day after day, night after night, rain or shine protesters have poured into the streets demanding justice.
The protests were sparked by the death of George Floyd but included the deaths of other black Americans like Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery.
Protesters say their deaths highlight systemic racism in the US.
This weekend peaceful marches are planned for cities large and small across the country.
Activists say they hope to build on the momentum, resulting in lasting change.
In Washington, DC a large turnout is expected at the new mural painted on the street leading to the White House.
The giant words “Black Lives Matter” are in bold yellow colors that span two blocks of 16th Street and stretch across the width of the two-lane street.
It was DC Mayor Muriel Bowser who hired the painters and approved the decision to rename that section of the street to “Black Lives Matter Plaza.”
Browser said she did it to send a message.
“That message is to the American people that Black lives matter, black humanity matters and we as a city raise that as part of our values as a city.”
