Delta Air Lines is suspending service to and from 11 airports.
The list was announced Friday and it includes cities like Aspen, Colorado, Erie, Pennsylvania and Lincoln, Nebraska.
The others are similar sized cities.
Delta says the cut cities make up about 5% of the domestic airports it serves.
It also says all of them will continue to be served by at least one other airline.
Even though Delta is cutting back, air travel in general is actually picking up.
That means you might be tempted to pack a bag as well.
If you’re planning on flying sometime soon, there are steps you can take to keep yourself healthy.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the first thing you need to assess before you do any traveling is are you sick?
If you have any symptoms, stay home.
While you’re at the airport, make sure to maintain social distancing guidelines, staying 6 feet away from others whenever possible.
Wear a mask at all times.
Pay attention to every surface you touch.
And have plenty of hand sanitizer available and ready to use frequently throughout your journey.
Get to the airport early enough to walk to your terminal instead of taking the enclosed airport tram.
Even though airlines are taking extra steps to clean and sanitize planes in between flights, it won’t hurt to do a little wiping down of the things at your seat when you board.
You may want to turn the circulation above your head on high.
It may help move the air in front of you, possibly breaking up virus particles.
If you can, try to maintain social distancing on the plane as well by sitting away from other passengers.
For the last six years I’ve always used my summer break to travel to exotic cities all over the world.
This year my friends and I were excited because we had planned to travel to Thailand and to Bali.
When the coronavirus pandemic hit, we canceled our plans.
I envy those people who would dare to fly right now.
I’m still not confident yet.
My family’s health is my top priority.
Traveling is like therapy for me.
So I will wait until the right time before I fly again.
For those of you who are flying, please stay safe and healthy.
