Protests erupted for a seventh day across the US over the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, at the hands of police in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
And they brought a new round of disturbing episodes across the country especially in Washington, DC.
Monday as military helicopters flew in the skies over DC, President Trump vowed to use military if widespread violence continues.
He said he would invoke the Insurrection act, an 1807 law that allows a president to deploy the US military to suppress civil order.
Also yesterday Trump posed outside of a nearby church, Saint John’s Episcopal Church, while holding a Bible and taking photos.
Some are criticizing the move because before Trump visited the church, military police and the Secret Service released tear gas and fired rubber bullets at peaceful protesters near the White House.
The bishop of the church says she was outraged because visited “without permission.”
She also said the action did nothing to help the country heal.
Sunday the church, which has been used by American presidents for more than a century, was partially burned in a protest.
