A Kentucky school surprised a little girl by including a photo of her service dog in the yearbook.
St. Patrick Catholic School in Louisiana surprised 7-year-old Hadley Jo Lange by including a photo of her service dog, labradoodle Ariel, among its kindergarten class.
Hadley Jo has epilepsy, a neurological disorder that causes seizures.
Hadley Jo’s mother says her daughter might not be alive if it wasn’t for Ariel and that the dog goes everywhere with her daughter.
Ariel alerts teachers by barking when Hadley Jo is having an episode.
During seizures the dog lies down next to Hadley Jo and moves her body under the child to cushion her fall.
The school’s principal says Ariel is part of the family and finding a place for the dog in the yearbook was an easy decision.
Hadley Jo’s mother says the inclusiveness meant so much.
