White House coronavirus task force to end

As dozens of states start to reopen the Trump administration announces a closure.

According to a senior White House official, the coronavirus task force is expected to be phased out by Memorial Day.

President Trump said that his administration will have a different group set up to focus on “safety and reopening.”

Critics including Senator Chuck Schumer were quick to attack the decision.

An interview with ABC Trump admitted “some” lives will be lost as the country reopens.

Some say the expected rise in confirmed cases is why the task force should remain in place.

A second administration official says the White House is now focusing more on boosting the US economy and “putting Americans back to work.”

Sources tell CNN that key medical experts on the task force are expected to continue advising Trump on a daily basis.
