The coronavirus pandemic may have slowed down in many parts of the country but don’t start planning parties, vacations and trips to the office just yet.
Infectious disease expert Doctor Anthony Fauci says as people increasingly try to resume regular life and more states ease or lift stay-at-home orders, a second wave of Covid 19 cases is inevitable, most likely by the fall and coinciding with flu season.
Experts at the Mayo Clinic say the combination of a second wave of Covid 19 with the flu season could create a lot of confusion because of the overlap in symptoms.
It could also put a heavy strain on the healthcare system.
Experts say the next few months would be a good time to prepare for potential second outbreak.
Hospitals and clinics should replenish its stocks of personal protective equipment (PPE) and testing supplies.
State and local officials should make plans to quickly re-issue stay-at-home orders and social distancing guidelines if needed.
And people should continue to wear facemasks and avoid gatherings of more than 10 people.
