A law enforcement official told CNN that four trucks containing as many as 60 bodies have been recovered outside of a Brooklyn, New York funeral home.
The official says this was discovered after someone reported fluids dripping from the trucks.
On Wednesday another law enforcement source said the Andrew Cleckley Funeral Home was overwhelmed and ran out of room for bodies.
According to the source, the bodies were waiting cremation and that they used the trucks for storage.
Officials say at least one of the trucks was unrefrigerated and that the bodies were being put on ice.
Unrefrigerated trucks are not considered appropriate storage for bodies and officials say New York has freezer trucks that funeral homes can use if they are overwhelmed.
The city sent one to hold the bodies after learning about the incident.
Authorities are waiting for equipment to move the bodies into a larger truck.
The New York State Health Department said in a statement regarding the incident that funeral directors are required to store decedents in appropriate conditions.
