There has been lots of fallout from President Trump’s Thursday afternoon White House press conference.
After a Department of Homeland Security official said they tested how sunlight and disinfectants could kill coronavirus on surfaces and in the air, Trump raised the possibility of “seeing what would happen” if people injected disinfectant to fight coronavirus.
That set the social media world on fire and forced to some cleaning supply companies and health officials to issue an immediate warning to consumers not to ingest or inject disinfectants, bleach or rubbing alcohol.
Trump’s comments apparently did not sit well with his top coronavirus coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx.
This video of Burks has gone viral.
She was caught on camera squirming uncomfortably, smirking and dropping her head in dejection as Trump raised the idea of using sunlight and disinfectants to kill the virus in the human body.
After Trump became angered by media coverage of his remarks, the White House claimed reporters took him out of context.
Trump says he was being sarcastic and just kidding and is now blaming the media about what he said.
He said “I was asking the question sarcastically to reporters just to see what would happen.”
Now multiple sources tell CNN there has been a concerted effort among White House aides and allies to get Trump to stop conducting daily coronavirus briefings.
Those close to Trump believe the daily briefings are hurting him more than helping him.
They say the fallout from Thursday’s press conference is the perfect example.
