Pollen season is that dreaded time of year.
More than 50 million Americans suffer from seasonal allergies each year.
But there are ways to help avoid the worst of seasonal allergies.
Reducing your exposure to allergy triggers can help.
The Mayo Clinic says stay indoors on dry, windy days.
The best time to go outside is after a good rain which helps clear pollen from the air.
Allow someone else to do outdoor chores like lawn mowing or gardening or where a pollen mask.
Remove clothes you’ve worn outside and shower to rinse off pollen that can stick to the skin and hair.
When pollen counts are high, take allergy medication before symptoms start.
Close doors and windows at night and during high pollen counts.
Avoiding outdoor activity in the morning can also help since that is when pollen is at its worst.
Use the air conditioner inside your home and car.
Keep air dry in your home with a dehumidifier.
And use an air purifier in your bedroom.
