White House officials and medical experts are at odds over President Trump’s endorsement of unproven coronavirus treatments.
Trump has repeatedly recommended and anti-malaria drug and azithromycin, a common antibiotic.
This is despite warnings from researchers that neither drug has been proven to treat or prevent someone contracting COVID-19.
The disagreement reportedly caused a heated debate in the situation room this weekend with several aides and outside advisers with Trump.
While researchers are conducting test with the anti-malaria drug, doctors say it is too early to be sure of its efficacy.
Doctors also warn its side effects could be dangerous to otherwise healthy individuals.
