The US has set another grim milestone associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
As of 8 PM Eastern time Saturday, 1,224 coronavirus deaths have been reported.
That is a new record for deaths in a single day.
The previous record had been nearly 1,100.
And that record was set this past Friday.
On Saturday during the White House press conference President Trump said “this will probably be the toughest week, between this week and next week” and warned “there will be a lot of death.”
However New York appears to be inching toward the apex of the pandemic.
That’s the point at which the number of daily Covid-19 infections is at its worse and the point at which the outbreak could start getting better.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo believes the apex will happen over the next 4 to 8 days.
But reaching the apex does not mean the end of the pandemic for New Yorkers.
It’s just a turning point.
The state still has a long road to recovery.
