States and the Trump administration are bracing for worsening conditions as the coronavirus spreads across the country.
President Trump says the next two weeks will be painful.
And the country should now prepare for 100-thousand deaths from the coronavirus.
The hardest hit states are already competing against one another for more ventilators which is driving up prices.
The governor of New York just purchased thousands of those devices from China, brushing off comments from Trump that he doesn’t need that many.
Trump says the federal government will hold off ending out almost 10-thousand ventilators in preparation for the peak of the outbreak.
The virus is projected to hit the country the hardest by mid-April.
The White House has also identified New Orleans, Detroit and Chicago as coronavirus hotspots.
Officials in New Orleans say they are preparing for a significant amount of hospitalizations and unfortunately, an increase of corresponding deaths.
Detroit and Chicago are filling massive downtown convention centers with hospital beds.
With nearly eighty percent of the US population now under stay-at-home and shelter in place orders, White House coronavirus task force doctors say social distancing is still a vital tool.
