Americans are getting an extra three months to file their taxes because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced tax day is being moved from April 15 to July 15.
But Mnuchin said he was acting at the direction of President Trump.
But Mnuchin said Americans who are owed refunds should still file now to get their money to help them through these tough economic times.
The new deadline applies only to federal tax income payments and it’s up to individual states to set their own deadlines.
Some states are making changes.
In California individuals have until June 15 to both file and pay their state taxes.
