President Trump is considering a delay in the April 15 tax filing deadline due to the coronavirus.
The decision is aimed at curbing the financial impact of coronavirus on households and businesses.
Trump mentioned tax relief for certain individuals and businesses during his Oval Office speech on Wednesday but did not provide more details.
Under current law, taxpayers must file 2019 income tax forms by April 15.
If they miss the deadline the IRS charges late filing penalties.
However should Trump officially delay the filing deadline, sources tell CNN that the IRS would likely extend the deadline by at least several months or waive fees linked to late filing.
