Last year actress Racquel Bailey, 33, paid for billboards to get director Tyler Perry’s attention, and now she will be featured on Perry’s TV show “Sistas.”
Bailey paid 2-thousand dollars for the billboards to be placed near Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.
The billboards had her face on them with the words “Attention Mr. Perry: Racquel Bailey is your next leading lady.”
A couple of weeks later, she was auditioning for upcoming roles on Perry’s projects and even landed a role in “Sistas.”
Sistas is the new BET dramatic comedy that follows a group of single black women as they try to find love in the modern dating scene.
Bailey plays the role of Officer Rayah, who, according to one promo for the show, is about to arrest a character named Zac.
Bailey says she couldn’t give more details, besides the fact that her character may have had past relations with Zac.
The episode is set to air Wednesday (Tomorrow) at 9 p.m. Eastern time.
While Bailey’s billboards stunt may have helped her land the role, Perry made it clear to others this is not the way to get his attention.
Last year Perry tweeted “Please don’t do this, save your money!!,” and told people just to audition.
Bailey says she’s glad she did it and that she “wouldn’t take it back for anything.”
She said she’s also been offered upcoming roles with other networks.
