For weeks Joe Biden has hinged his presidential hopes on South Carolina granting him a come back.
Last night it looks like he was right.
The 77-year-old has been running for president off and on for 33 years.
The victory in South Carolina was his first ever nominating contest win.
Voters in South Carolina gave Biden a much-needed boost after the former vice president struggled in the previous three states.
But his campaign focused on South Carolina which is the first state with a majority black Democratic electorate.
Now Biden hopes the win will springboard his campaign into Super Tuesday were now a third of all pledged delegates are at stake.
Other candidates are already spending time and money in Super Tuesday states trying to prove to voters their campaigns can last.
Billionaire businessman Tom Steyer is not one of them.
Steyer announced he is dropping out of the race for president.
Steyer spent millions of dollars of his own money on his presidential run.
But it didn’t help him gain traction in the Democratic primaries.
His low finish in South Carolina comes after he invested heavily there.
So Steyer says it was time to go.
