Boy leaves puppy at shelter to protect it from abuse

This next story is heartbreaking but it has a happy ending.

A little boy dropped his pitbull puppy off at a Mexican animal rescue shelter with a toy and note attached.

The note said “My name is Andres and I am 12 years old. I decided to leave my dog in your hands, hiding it from my dad because he mistreats and kicks him. One day he kicked him so hard that he hurt his tail. I hope you can help and take care of him.”

Andres says he left the toy so the dog would not forget him.

The rescue group named the dog Rene and posted the letter on its Facebook page.

As soon as the story was posted the shelter received more than 300 requests to adopt Rene from all over the country.

The puppy is still getting medical attention but will be looking for forever home soon.

Meanwhile the rescue group was quick to remind people it has 120 other dogs that need a welcoming family too.
