Over the weekend a state of emergency was issued for the Mississippi, as historic flooding devastated parts of the state.
And while the flooding is expected to recede this week, that is not before a flash flood warning could bring more rain for thousands of residents.
According to the National Weather Service, parts of central Mississippi are under a flash flood watch through Tuesday (Today) night.
One to two inches of rain could be possible in some areas worsening flooding conditions and flooding structures that are already in high waters.
Yesterday (Monday) Pearl River and Jackson, Mississippi swelled to historic levels, leaving the roads covered in water and hundreds of homes damaged.
Mississippi’s governor says although roads are beginning to reopen in the Jackson area, motorists should still check traffic conditions prior to traveling and exercise extreme caution.
