Republicans don’t have a primary to vote in but that doesn’t mean they won’t make their voices heard.
Some of them are banding together to vote for Democrats they think will help them win.
One grassroots organizer is calling it “Operation Chaos.”
Conservatives in South Carolina are pushing for Republican voters to disrupt the upcoming Democratic primary by voting for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
South Carolina’s Republican presidential primary has been canceled this year.
And the state has an open primary which allows eligible voters to cast votes in either party’s primary.
Voting for Sanders would be an obstacle for former Vice President Joe Biden who needs a victory in South Carolina to bolster his campaign.
Democrats say Republicans in South Carolina don’t want Biden in a one-on-one matchup with President Trump.
Not all Republican leaders in South Carolina are endorsing this effort.
But it’s still unclear how many conservative voters are going to participate anyway.
